FedEx Recognizes Entella Company for its Global Connectivity

By July 6, 2019 No Comments

The Turkish student company Entella has impressed the FedEx Access Award jury at the JA Europe Company of the Year Competition 2019. The team from Entella Company created Mareen, a cylindrical filter that aids in waste capture and removal in the ocean and other bodies of water.

Over 200 young entrepreneurs from across Europe gathered in Lille, France between 3 and 5 July to celebrate the top student companies. 40 teams competed as part of JA Europe’s flagship event JA Company Programme, which gives them an opportunity to set up and manage a real business.

Learning to run a company from top to bottom, the JA Company Programme students create and market real products and services. Adult volunteers from established businesses mentor and offer expert advice to the students. Engagement between education and business is essential to closing the gap between classroom theory and real-world challenges.

On receiving the award, member of the winning team said: We are honored to win the FedEx Access Award which is a recognition of all our hard work. It demonstrate that it’s not about your origin or your country, or whatever you’re doing, it’s about passion. I would like to thanks the FedEx jury, our teacher, Junior Achievement Turkey and my team. “

Teaming up with JA Europe for over a decade, FedEx supports the JA Company Program to increase numbers of young people to access entrepreneurial education alongside formal academic schooling. FedEx and JA Europe are working together in 7 European countries (Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, France, and UK) with young people aged 15-21 years old involved in the Company Programme.

FedEx connects companies to new markets as part of our everyday business. Through the FedEx Access Award, we are able to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to set ambitious targets for responsible international growth,” said Harald Schoenfelder, vice president of Clearance Operations, FedEx Express Europe.

In addition to the FedEx Access Award, FedEx provided the competing teams with a seminar on trade, job creation, and global logistics, for the students to learn more about how their businesses can open new markets and create products/services that improve lives around the world.

“FedEx brings an incredibly valuable perspective to the students in the JA Company Program. This is often their first entrepreneurial experience. The FedEx Access Award recognises young people for business ideas that have a truly international dimension,” said Caroline Jenner, CEO of JA Europe.
