Citi Foundation Client Focus Award

Citi Foundation is one of the founding partners of JA Europe and for 30 years we have worked together in Europe to inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs and employees. The “Citi Foundation Client Focus Award”  recognizes student enterprises that are client-led, and excel at creating value by listening to their clients to understand, anticipate and serve their evolving needs and circumstance.

Award criteria

  1. Demonstrate that the mini-company has approached its business with the intention to create value for its clients and to build their trust by serving their interests responsibly.
  2. Demonstrate the steps the mini-company has taken to understand the world of its clients.
  3. Demonstrate that the mini-company has been able to anticipate and serve clients’ changing needs.
  4. Demonstrate that the mini-company has improved clients’ experience through innovation

Meet the Jury

Lars Seynaeve

Director Public Affairs Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands

Lars Seynaeve is Director for Public Affairs for Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands
He oversees media relations, internal and client communications, marketing, government relations and community affairs for all Citi businesses in those countries and is based in Paris.
Lars joined Citi in 2001 as Corporate Communications Manager for the consumer business in Belgium, France and Germany. In 2004, he became the official spokesperson for the entire Citigroup franchise in Belgium and joined the Citibank Belgium management team. In 2006 he assumed the role of Public Affairs Officer for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg covering internal and external communications, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, media relations and government affairs.
Prior to joining Citi he was responsible for Marketing and Communications within an incipient IT company where he oversaw the integration of several geographically disparate teams into a single, unified function when the company expanded into France, Sweden, the USA and Australia. Lars holds a BA in Travel and Tourism Management and started his career as a journalist and travel writer
Lars is married and father of a twin boy and girl. He enjoys spending his free time with his family, horse-riding, on the golf course, and remains active as a travel writer.

Amal Gomersall

Vice President Community Development & Sustainability, EMEA Citi

Joining Citi in January 2017, Amal is an experienced corporate citizenship and sustainability professional. Focusing on youth entrepreneurship through the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative Amal oversees a number of grants in the UK and across EMEA.
Prior to Citi, Amal spent 6 years working for one of the largest foundations in Europe, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). Here she was a Corporate Advisor, a specialist CSR and Sustainability consultant that advises multi-national companies on best practice in corporate citizenship, social impact and measurement, charity partnerships, and grant making.
She began her career at CAF in 2011 responsible for informing the Chief Executive’s thinking and CAF’s strategic development through in-depth CSR research and profiling of the external landscape. Before joining CAF, Amal worked for APMG, a global accreditation, certification and examination body managing the nation-wide examinations of leading project management qualifications, Prince2 and ITIL, in addition to looking after a portfolio of products and clients both in the UK and US.
Amal has a BA in Politics and an MA in Conflict, Development and Security, both from the University of Leeds. In her MA she focused her dissertation on Sanction Theory & Myanmar; looking into the merits of internationally imposed sanctions in opposition to grassroots civil society development.
